AstroTurf: The Interviews. #3 Madelaine Osborn

1. Who are you? Madelaine Osborn, proud SM of AstroTurf.

2. What city do you live in? Bathurst – the city of dreams.

3. Besides making wonderful things with Big One Little One, what do you do? I’m a second year Theatre/Media student.

4. Who or what do you love? Oh my goodness, what a loaded question! My first thought is of all the people I love, but I think love for people can come and go or simply change with time. I don’t think I’ve ever been in love. I think you’re supposed to know if you are or have been, yes? So in terms of a consistent love, I would say painting. It’s the longest love affair I’ve had and I have faith that I will keep it that way.

5. Describe the most recent time you fell in love with someone/something strange? I don’t know that it counts – but I have a weakness for falling in love with fictional characters. The most recent book character that I would definitely accept a proposal from is Alexander Pushkin (ladies, if you’ve read The Bronze Horseman, you need not ask. If you haven’t, you know what to start reading as soon as you finish reading this.) It’s a totally justified love, but I suppose it’s ‘strange’ because alas, he doesn’t exist.

6. (Without giving away any secrets) how would you describe I might just take you on the AstroTurf? A beautifully imagined reality! It’s like stepping into a world that you know is a creation, but the feelings evoked are two hundred percent real and undeniable.

7. What song reminds you of AstroTurf? Oren Lavie – “Her Morning Elegance”. Not because of anything deep and lyrical, but simply because this song is like a dream, just like parts of AstroTurf.
